Painting Competition – Gandhi 150 years

Muenchen Tamil Sangam in association with the Consulate General of India- Munich, is organising a painting competition , celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the 27th of April.

It has been 150 years since his birth and 70 years since his demise. Nevertheless, his charisma transcends the national and international boundaries. His contribution to India and Humanity is far too great to be overlooked. On the occasion of the 150th year of his birth anniversary, München Tamil Sangam e.V. in association with Consulate General of India – Munich, Govt. of India is happy to organise a painting competition with a theme that symbolises Gandhiji and India.

Details of the competition

The competition is open Children upto the age of 14 (as on 27th April 2019). The Child participates individually (not in a group). The young artists who register for the painting competition can follow one of the following themes.

  1. Satyagraha
  2. Gandhi Portrait
  3. Unity in Diversity
  4. Universal Peace
  5. Philosophy of 3 Monkeys
  6. Dhandi March

The participant can choose one or multiple topics of his or her own choice and present a painting. Accordingly charts will be provided.

Age Category

Group Name Age Duration Chart Size Details
Ravi Varma Group Under 6 Years 1 hr A4 Pictures with different difficulty level will be presented to the participant.
The participant is free to choose the picture he/she would like to color.
Colouring material is the choice of the participant.
The participant is also free to paint or sketch his/her own drawing.
Tagore Group 6 – 10 2 hrs A3 The participant is free to produce an art in one or multiple charts
in the allotted duration of time.
MF Hussain Group 10-14 2.30 hrs A3 The participant is free to produce an art in one or multiple charts
in the allotted duration of time.

Materials for Painting Competition

The charts (white color) will be provided by the Muenchen Tamil Sangam. The painting/sketching material (i.e. Colours) should be brought by the participants. The venue has tables and chairs (adult-size). It can also be arranged that the Child can sit on the floor to paint. In this case, please bring appropriate Pads for painting.

Display & Prize Announcements

All the drawings/paintings/sketches will be displayed for viewing on 28th April 2019 at the Chithirai Thiruvizha 2019 organised by München Tamil Sangam. The prize winners will be announced and prizes will be presented on this day.  The Certificates duly signed by the Consul General of  India will be distributed at the Consulate at a later date for Prize winners.
